Frequently Asked Questions
Clearhats offers very unique services at fair prices. Many people question us about our methods of testing, pricing, and research. Below are responses to actual questions we have received. If you have further questions, please contact us directly.
The Basic Security Package is a comprehensive vulnerability assessment package that will provide you with detailed and accurate information about possible vulnerabilities in your network. We can offer the Basic package at a significantly reduced price because it requires much less time and manual effort than the Advanced Security Package (including penetration testing services). Corporations do not always require actual network penetration with real-world ethical hacking techniques. The Basic Security Package is what we recommend to these clients.
We use a combination of industry-standard tools and custom software developed in-house. Our toolkit includes automated scanners, manual testing frameworks, and proprietary exploit code. We write our own tools so that we owe $0 in licensing fees, which keeps our costs low.
Before beginning any security assessment work, we require clients to sign a Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement. This agreement protects both the client and Clearhats Network Security. We will not disclose proprietary information discovered during our assessment process.
Yes. We perform all testing activities with reasonable care and diligence. Testing is performed within the defined scope and timeframe. Our total liability for any engagement shall not exceed the total fees paid for the specific service in question.
As an independent, low-overhead company, we are able to charge for services based solely on the time it takes for us to complete a given project. We always determine this timescale beforehand with legal agreement from our clients. Our materials are virtual and we write all of our own tools so that we owe $0 in licensing fees. We advertise solely through "word-of-mouth." Also, we have neither elaborate facilities nor the overhead of excess staff that would be passed on to you. We don't have teams of salespeople, just fair prices for honest, hard work.
The Basic Security Package relies primarily on automated scanning tools with manual analysis and verification. The Advanced Security Package requires experienced penetration testers to manually exploit vulnerabilities, which takes significantly more time and expertise. The reduced time commitment allows us to offer the Basic package at a lower price point.
As our specialty is penetration testing, we primarily focus on network vulnerability research. We also spend a significant amount of research time developing methods of intrusion detection, and performing forensic analyses of network traffic.
Our research has resulted in the development of proprietary testing tools and methodologies that allow us to find vulnerabilities that commercial scanners miss. We continuously update our toolsets to stay current with the latest threats and attack techniques.
The $1,800 and $4,900 prices and the "-50% Price Guarantee" are limited to the Basic and Advanced Security Packages for a single Class C network.
